Two years together!

On the 25th November, Gemma has turned 2 years old! She's already a cute young lady, she's really growing up quickly, my little darling princess! These 24 months together have been amazing, hopefully I monthly reported the evolution of our little family... I do not know until when Gemma and Fifi will accept to participate into this photo project (see below), but it is really funny to see through it how Gemma has changed (and we get older...)

For her birthday, she aimed to be dressed as a fairy princess. Once she saw it in a shop, she wanted this glittered "dreamy" dress. I have also made a magic wand and a crown to complete her birthday clothing, but she did not wanted wear the crown. Instead, she tried to make Fifi wearing it and she brought the bunch of wands that I have made at the park, in order to share them with her friends for a little magic birthday party!

Taking Gemma's sample, I would like to share the magic wands and the crown with you. Here you can find the templates to make the wand, while here's the crown, which you can download and use (only for personal uses).
Instructions
The magic wand. You need some cardboard, some fabric, some paper straws and some permanent pens for fabric to draw the face on the star. 1. Cut some cardboard and some fabric following the template. 2. Sew the cardboard to a paper straw. 3. Draw the eyes, the nose and the mouth onto the star and then iron it (to make it permanent). 4. Glue the fabric on the cardboard. Voilà!!
The princess crown. You need some glittered paper, some felt and an elastic thread. 1. Cut the glittered paper and the felt following the template. 2. Glue the paper on the felt. 3. Sew some elastic thread, fitting to you measure. Voilà!!

A last thing. I want to dedicate to Gemma this cute song, not only because its video was partially turned in my lovely birth town (in Carrara, at the quarries), but also and especially because it is a kind of ballade in which a mother tells to her daughter that she is going to grow following her natural and personal attitudes. I believe that all parents should try to encourage children to do this, without imposing any "plan" and without considering them as "empty box" to be filled. Happy birthday my little darling Gemma!!!

Summertime

Summer has finally come and to inaugurate my coming to the seaside I have chosen these amazing couple of swimwear, made for me and for my little Gemma. Actually, I fund this great creation from GooseSkin, which had the wonderful idea to create a line of swimwear "Mother and daughter" of which I really fell in love.

When I was a child, I often dreamed to wear the same wears of my mother, but it was always replied to me "this is for the big one" or "you could wear this when you will grow up". For this now I am really happy to see that it is possible to see mum and daughter walking together wearing the same cloths!

For that, I decided to use some stamps that I crafted for the summer to create a couple of t-shirt for me and Gemma, with a lot of coloured fruits stamped upon! Strawberry, pineapple, lemon, cherries, and watermelon, there's all we need to full us up with fruits and vitamins to cope with the hot of the summertime! You can find these stamps on my etsy.

Mr. Little Drop: a totem against the shitty Paris weather

Since Paris's weather is doing its "utmost" during last days in terms of quick swinging between hot sun and cold showers, I decided that it was the time to create a new totem against rain! Here's I am pleased to introduce you Mr. Little Drop, also know as "Gocciolino"

Hoping that some durable sun (but not too hot!) will come soon and that, by this way, I will stop to be overtake (always without umbrella, of course) by the rain and to get cold. Hopefully, Gemma has a rain-cover for her stroller... You can find Gocciolino on my etsy, please check it out!!! Also a hand carved rubber stamp and a pendant-necklace are available

A run for life!

"If you sometimes feel a little useless, offended, or depressed... Always remember that you were once the fastest and most victorious little sperm out of millions" I believe to have heard this quote into a Woody Allen's film... I am not sure about, but it fits exactly with these couple of brooches! You can find both on my etsy, please check them out here!

Easter everyday! DIY amigurumi maracas project tutorial

For Easter, I would like to show you a cute project that is dedicated to a person who can be considered the "King" of Chocolate and who has recently passed away: Michele Ferrero. He not only invented the Nutella, but he also created his little "Kinder Surprise" chocolate egg that, as he claimed, he made possible the Eater everyday. Actually, this little chocolate egg, like the Easter egg, contains inside a little "surprise": either a little toy or a special collectible figurine.

Whole generations of children throughout the world loved and love Kinder surprise. Gemma as well has been captured by the charm of the magic little egg... thus the collections of little figurines that I gathered during my childhood can be continued! And, in order not to put anything into the rubbish, I have found out a way to re-use in a kawaii way the yellow plastic capsule that contains the surprise into the eggs!

In order to turn this plastic capsule into a kind of maracas, it is sufficient to full the capsule with anything that makes a sound shaking it: some dry beans or little stones, rice, sand... The sound changes accordingly to what you put inside and to the quantity of stuff that fills it. Using different maracas with different sounds, the child could improve her or his sense for the music.

Once you have filled the capsule, you can crochet a "cloth custom-tailored" for it. Here you can find here some photos, which I have found in a book, about how to make an "amigurumi" in a simple and step by step way. But I am sure that the easiest thing is just to ask around you to mums, gradmas and aunts... to crochet or knit was so widespread and I am sure that in each family there is someone who is able to do this! Moreover, it could also be a cute way to spend the Easter or another together with our beloved.

Me too, I discovered that my mother was gifted of real talent in doing these little crochets and she immediately produced these three little cuties! Actually, I have added the eyes and the rest of their pretty little faces, which I have made with some felt. The only thing to keep in mind is to use a crochet hook littler than the size indicated on the thread, just in order to make a thicker weave.I hope you will enjoy doing these ones!! It is obvious that Gemma adores them all!!!

The little brown soots of the sand!!

Before coming back in Paris, in my home-town I enjoined the beauty of the beach during the Winter. When the Summer ends, the beach always comes back its natural and wild shape without the clumsy beach umbrellas and deckchairs. Walking around in the shore it is possible to find little treasures, which the sea brings up during along with its waves and storms, such as little glasses, shells, canes with the greatest variety of forms, and, above all and if you are lucky... the little brown soots!

These little brown creatures are far cousins of the little black soots (the ones of the cartoon My Neighbour Totoro) and, like them, the usually pop out only when there's anybody (or nearly). However, unlike the black soots, which are the sons of the dark, the brown soots are the sons of the sea and you can find them at the beach during the Autumn and the Winter. Even though they are rather shy and moody, they also love to be pampered and, once they gained confidence, they become inseparable and loyal friends!

These little brown soots have followed me at home, then they travelled with me to Paris, and now I am trying to find a new home for them, where someone could take care of them. Looking at these seven little guys, I have noticed that each of them has a specific mood:

There's Zigulì, who is the smallest of them (he measures only 1.5 cm), but do not trust the appearances because this tiny soot is full of power and vitality. This tireless friend is always on the move and he particularly fits with dynamic people, who likes stay out for long walks!

Then, another one is Big Boy: he is the biggest of the crew, unlike Zigulì, he is very lazy. He spends much time sleeping or leaving himself to be carried out by the wind. Yet, as soon as he sniffs some food, he reactivate himself because he is a big glutton. If you'd like to adopt it, keep your foodstuff at safe!

Vik is the rebel of the group. He is intolerant with any kind of constriction and the he does not like the conventional behaviours of the middle-class society, criticising social and moral systems. In his dreams, he would like to live in a beach on which each little brown soot could be free to contribute with his or her own capacity to the collective welfare; a beach of equals, freed from prevarications. In spite of his small dimensions, Vik is gifted with a big charisma and he is able to awake the consciences of the other soots!

Another soot is George, whose curiosity if often a source of danger for him. Such as that time when, becoming curious about the elegant flight of a seagull, he followed it whirling away for many miles staring at amazing panoramas... but getting lost! Hopefully, the seagull itself was sympathetic with this little one and it brought it back at home... of course, the life in company with him is not boring at all!

John is the most shy soot of the group. Not only, he is also very discreet. He loves to observe at things that surround him and to overthink about what he saw... constantly wondering bizarre things such as how waves are generated, or who has generated the first wave, or again how much grain of sand are in the beach and so forth... For this reflexive soot even the most banal thing is turned into a philosophical source of thoughts

Cookie is tender and pamper, I would say "mushy" for his case. Maybe he is not very self-confident, he needs tons of caresses per day because, without them, he will end up with feeling alone and left aside... and he also become mournful and irritable!

Finally, Sebastian is a real grumpy! His stubbornness arrives to such an extent... he wants always to be right, the other soots feel so sad when they discover that he is very often right! In spite of his grouchy and hypercritical nature, he will never leave his friends alone in a moment of need and he is always able to support them during the difficulties, offering his big hearth.

I hope you like these little friends, discover then all on my etsy!
